A POS that sends every sale to KRA eTIMS.

Duka files each sale with KRA as the cashier completes it, under your shop’s own KRA PIN, so nobody types the day’s sales into eTIMS by hand.

Filed as the sale happens

When a sale is completed, the till sends it to KRA straight away: every item, its tax class and the VAT, under your KRA PIN and branch. Duka talks to KRA’s eTIMS system directly, with no middleman in between.

The cashier never waits for KRA. The receipt prints at once, and KRA’s answer is recorded against the sale when it comes back.

Every item carries its tax class

Each item in your stock list has a KRA tax class: A for exempt, B for 16% VAT, C for zero-rated, D for non-VAT and E for 8%. A basket that mixes exempt and taxed goods is filed line by line, each at its own item’s rate.

Kenyan shelf prices already include VAT, so the receipt shows how much of each price was VAT, and KRA is sent the same figures.

When KRA or the internet is slow

A sale never waits on KRA. If KRA doesn’t answer, the sale is kept and marked Waiting, and sales made while the till was offline go to KRA once it syncs.

The eTIMS panel in Books lists every sale as Reported, Waiting, Failed or Not reported, and sends the waiting ones again with one tap.

A receipt your customer can check

Once KRA accepts a sale, its receipt carries KRA’s invoice number and a QR code that opens KRA’s own invoice checker. The till prints without waiting for KRA, so the number appears on copies printed after KRA has accepted the sale, such as a reprint from Books.

Getting set up

KRA needs a service request from your shop naming Duka as your eTIMS integrator, and we help you raise it. Your KRA PIN goes into Duka’s settings, where filing is switched on. Until KRA approves the request, sales wait in the queue rather than fail.

Questions.

Are sales filed under my KRA PIN or Duka’s?
Yours. Every sale is filed under your shop’s KRA PIN and branch, because the sales are your shop’s.
Do I need an eTIMS machine?
No. Duka connects to KRA’s eTIMS system over the internet, from the phones, tablets and computers you already sell on.
What if a sale doesn’t reach KRA?
It stays in the eTIMS panel in Books, marked Waiting or Failed, until it is sent again from there.
