A point of sale for a busy mini-mart counter.

Scan, take payment, print. Each cashier signs in as themselves, each till’s drawer is counted at the close, and every sale moves the stock count.

Scan or search

Scan barcodes with the camera on an Android phone, or with a USB or Bluetooth scanner. One tone means the item was added and another means the barcode isn’t in your list, so the cashier knows without looking at the screen.

Cash, M-Pesa or both

Type the cash handed over and the till shows the change. Send the M-Pesa prompt to the customer’s phone, or match a payment made to your Till or Paybill, and split one sale between them when you need to.

A count at every close

Each till’s shift ends with a count against what the drawer should hold. A short shows at once, under the name of whoever closed it, and money paid out of the drawer is recorded so it doesn’t pass for a short.

What’s running low

Every sale takes its items off the count. Items running low are flagged, and batches near their expiry date are listed on the Stock screen.

More than one till

Pro and Chain include more than one till, one device to each. Every cashier signs in with their own account, and discounts are for managers and owners.

Questions.

Do I need a barcode scanner?
No. An Android phone’s camera scans barcodes. A USB or Bluetooth scanner is quicker on a busy counter, and works too.
Can two cashiers sell at once?
Yes, on Pro and Chain, which include more than one till: each till runs on its own device.
